How do I reply to a conversation in the Inbox?
Updated October 19, 2026
Every conversation in the Inbox has a composer at the bottom. Use it to reply to the contact, forward an email, or leave a note only your team can see.
Step by step
- Open the conversation in the Inbox.
- Click Reply, or press R. For an email you can also pick Reply All, or Forward (F).
- Write your message. For an email, check the To field, and click Show CC/BCC to add Cc or Bcc.
- Click Send, or press ⌘ Enter (Ctrl Enter on Windows).
To close the composer, click the cross or press Esc.
Write an internal note
Click Note, or press N. A note stays inside Breakcold: the contact never sees it, and anyone in your workspace who can open the conversation can read it. Type @ to mention a teammate: they get a notification. Click Add Note to save it.
Good to know
- Your reply goes out from the account the conversation belongs to. For an email, the From line shows it. To write from another account, start a new conversation instead.
- Send & Complete. When you reply from a task that's linked to the conversation, the button reads Send & Complete: it sends the message and marks the task done. Use the arrow next to it to switch back to Send. Breakcold remembers your choice for this workspace in this browser.
- Your draft is saved while you type: you see Saving…, then Saved.
- A disconnected account can't send. A yellow banner above the composer says so. If the account is yours, click Reconnect account. If a teammate shared it with you, ask them to reconnect it in Settings → Accounts.
Everything you can do in the composer
- Start a new conversation
- Format a message: bold, links, images, signature
- Send attachments and voice notes
- Rewrite a message with AI
- Insert variables such as a first name or today's date
- Schedule a message for later
- Use quick replies
- Track email opens and link clicks
- Can I send bulk emails, campaigns or sequences?
