What are the inbox keyboard shortcuts?
Updated October 19, 2026
Keyboard shortcuts let you work through the Inbox without the mouse. They act on the conversation that's open.
Shortcuts in a conversation
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ↑ / ↓ | Open the previous or next conversation in the list |
| R | Reply |
| F | Forward (email) |
| N | Write an internal note |
| Esc | Close the composer |
| D | Mark as done, or reopen a done conversation |
| A | Archive, or unarchive |
| T | Move to trash, or restore from trash |
Shortcuts while you write
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ⌘ Enter (Mac) or Ctrl Enter (Windows) | Send |
| / | Insert a variable or a quick reply |
| @ | Mention a teammate (in notes only) |
Good to know
- Single-letter shortcuts don't work while you type. When your cursor is in the message box, a search field or any other text field, R, D, A and the others type a letter instead. Click outside the field first. The same goes for Esc: click outside the message box, then press it.
- D, A and T close the conversation once they've acted. Press ↓ to open the next one.
- ⌘ Enter sends with the action your Send button shows, so it can be Send & Complete when you reply from a task.
- The buttons show their key: hover Mark as done, Archive or Move to trash to see it, and the Reply, Forward and Note tabs show R, F and N.
- Two shortcuts work everywhere in Breakcold: ⌘ K (or Ctrl K) opens search, and Q opens the Quick actions menu, where E, L, W and G start a new email, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or Telegram message.
- There's no list of shortcuts inside the app: this page is the reference.
