How do I save an inbox view?
Updated October 19, 2026
Save your filters as a view to find the same conversations again in one click, and share the view with your team if it helps them too.
Step by step
- In the Inbox, add filters to a view (see How to filter conversations). Discard and Save appear at the top right.
- To update the view you're on, click Save.
- To create a new view instead, click the arrow next to Save and choose Save as new view.
- In Create View, the name reads like "Inbox (Filtered)". Change it, and click the emoji to pick another one.
- Under Visibility, choose Only me or Share with workspace.
- Click Create. The new view opens in the sidebar.
You can also start from an empty view: click Create new (+) next to Views, then New View. It has no filters yet, so it shows all your conversations, archived and trashed ones included, until you add filters and click Save.
Manage a view
Right-click a view in the sidebar, or hover it and click …:
- Edit: change its name, emoji or visibility.
- Duplicate: make a copy named "(Copy)".
- Set as default view: the Inbox opens on it. A house icon marks your Default view.
- Reset default filters: on a built-in view, go back to its original filters.
- Hide from sidebar: see How to hide or show inbox views.
- Delete: opens Delete View ("This action cannot be undone."). Type the view's name to confirm. The conversations aren't deleted.
Good to know
- On a built-in view such as Inbox, Save keeps your filters in this browser only. Your teammates, and your other computers, still see the original filters. Built-in views can't be edited, duplicated or deleted.
- A shared view can be changed or deleted by the person who created it and by the workspace's Owners and Admins. Owners and Admins can also see views set to Only me.
- Your default view and hidden views are personal.
- A shared view shows each person only the conversations they're allowed to see. See How roles and permissions work for email and social accounts.
