How do I filter conversations in the inbox?

Filters narrow the view you're on down to the conversations you need, for example LinkedIn conversations without a reply, or emails that were opened.

Step by step

In the Inbox, click the view you want to filter.
Click Filter at the top left. Once a filter is on, the button shows only the filter icon.
Pick a field in the list, or type its name in Search filters....
Choose the condition, such as is, is not, is any of, is none of, is empty or is not empty.
Choose the value. The list of conversations updates right away.
To keep these filters, click Save at the top right. To go back to the view's own filters, click Discard.

Fields you can filter on

Done, Important (starred conversations), Channel, Account, Last message date.
Without reply (the contact has never replied) and With reply.
Lifecycle: Inbox, Sent, Archived, Trash or Spam.
Participant email, Linked to a record, Not linked to a record.
For email: Flagged (provider) (flagged or starred in your email app), Folders/labels, Email opened, Link clicked, Open count and Link click count.
One group per record type, such as People, Companies or Deals, with its fields. These match conversations linked to a record whose field fits, for example a deal in a given stage.

The conditions depend on the field. A yes/no field such as Done offers two choices, Done and Not done. Last message date offers choices such as in the last..., this week or is before.

Good to know

Each filter shows as a chip at the top. Click a part of it to change it. Its More options menu has Duplicate filter and Remove filter. With two filters or more, Clear removes them all.
A conversation has to match every filter.
The tabs All, Records only, Favorites and Groups apply on top of your filters.
On a built-in view, you start from its own filters: the Inbox view already has Lifecycle set to Inbox and Done set to Not done. To see the done ones there, switch Done to Done.
For a to-do list, add Done set to Not done: conversations disappear from it as you mark them done.
