How do I archive, trash or star a conversation?
Updated October 19, 2026
Archive a conversation you're finished with, move one you don't want to Trash, and star the ones you want to find again quickly. Each action can be undone.
Step by step
- Open the Inbox and click a conversation.
- Use the buttons at the top right of the conversation:
- The star, Add favorite, stars it. Click it again (Remove favorite) to unstar it.
- Archive moves it to the Archive view. You can also press A.
- Move to trash moves it to the Trash view. You can also press T.
- To act from the list without opening the conversation, right-click it and choose Star, Archive or Move to trash.
To undo, open the conversation from the Archive or Trash view and click the same button, now called Unarchive or Restore from trash, or press A or T again. The right-click menu has them too. The conversation goes back to the Inbox view.
Good to know
- Stars are personal. Only you see your stars, in the Starred view. To filter any view by stars, use the Important filter: it's the same thing.
- Archive and Trash are shared. When you archive or trash a conversation, it moves for everyone in the workspace who can see it.
- Nothing is deleted. Trash only moves the conversation. Breakcold doesn't empty the Trash on its own, and you can restore a conversation at any time.
- Breakcold doesn't change your accounts. Archiving or trashing here doesn't move the email in your mailbox or the chat on LinkedIn, WhatsApp or Telegram.
- A reply doesn't bring back an archived LinkedIn, WhatsApp or Telegram conversation. It stays in Archive until you unarchive it.
- Email follows your mailbox. When an email thread moves to another folder in your email account, such as Archive, Trash or back to Inbox, the conversation moves in Breakcold too.
