How do I download a conversation transcript?
Updated October 19, 2026
A transcript is the whole conversation in a plain text file: every message and every internal note, in order. Use it to share a conversation with someone outside Breakcold or to keep a copy.
Step by step
- Open the Inbox and click the conversation.
- At the top right of the conversation, click More actions (…).
- Choose Download transcript. The menu shows Preparing transcript... while Breakcold gathers the messages.
- When you see Transcript downloaded, the file is in your downloads folder.
What's in the file
- A header with the conversation's subject or the contact's name, the channel, when you downloaded it and the number of messages.
- Every message from the first to the last, each with its date and time, the sender, and whether it was received (Inbound) or sent (Outbound).
- Your team's internal notes, in their place in the timeline, marked Internal comment.
- The names of attached files. The files themselves aren't included.
- A deleted message shows as [Message deleted].
Good to know
- The file is named
breakcold-conversation-transcript-<date>.txtand opens in any text editor. - Times are in your computer's time zone.
- It's plain text: formatting and images aren't kept.
- You can download a transcript of any conversation you can read, on every channel.
- You download one conversation at a time. To read many conversations at once, for a report or another tool, use the Breakcold API or the Breakcold MCP: both can list conversations and their messages.
- If the download fails, you see Failed to download transcript. Please try again. Try again in a moment.
