How do I rewrite a message with AI?

AI Rewrite improves a message you've already written: it makes it longer or shorter, changes the tone, or fixes mistakes. It works on every channel and in notes.

Step by step

1. Open the conversation, click Reply and write your draft.
2. Click AI Rewrite in the composer toolbar. In a narrow composer, it's in the More options menu (⋯).
3. Pick what you want:
   • Expand: adds a little detail, staying close to the original length.
   • Shorten: removes repetition and keeps the key points.
   • Rephrase: different words, same meaning and tone.
   • More friendly: warmer and more casual.
   • More formal: more professional.
   • Fix grammar: corrects grammar, spelling and punctuation only.
4. The composer shows AI rewriting..., then the new text replaces your draft.
5. Read it, edit it if needed, and click Send.

Good to know

• AI Rewrite is greyed out until the composer has some text.
• The rewrite keeps the language you wrote in.
• It rewrites the whole message, not a selection, and returns plain text: bold, links and images in an email are not kept. Format the message after rewriting it.
• Nothing is sent until you click Send.
• If the rewrite fails, for example when your organization is out of tokens, an error message says why and your draft stays as it was.
