How do I search for a record?
Updated October 19, 2026
One search box finds people, companies, deals and records of your own objects across the whole workspace. It also finds tasks, recorded meetings and pages of the app.
Step by step
- Click the search icon at the top of the sidebar, or press ⌘K on Mac (Ctrl+K on Windows).
- Type a name or an email address, for example Maya. Click a result, or pick it with the arrow keys and press Enter, to open it.
Good to know
- Records are found by name or email address. When what you type looks like a phone number, phone numbers are searched too. Other fields, such as a job title or a note, are not.
- Results are grouped: Records, Tasks (by title) and Meetings (by title, recorded meetings only), up to 5 of each. Refine what you type when the one you want isn't listed.
- Before you type, the window shows your Recent Records, Recent Tasks and Recent Meetings.
- The same window jumps to pages (Navigation, Settings) and starts actions such as Create Task or Compose Email.
- To narrow the list you are looking at instead, click the search icon next to Display on People, Companies or Deals (Search records...). It also matches names and email addresses, and works together with your filters.
