How do I edit many records at once?
Updated October 19, 2026
Select records in a table and act on all of them at once: set a field, change the owner, create tasks, export, enrich or delete.
Step by step
- Open People (or any other object) and tick the box at the start of each row you want to change.
- A bar appears at the bottom with the number of selected records and its actions. Click Bulk edit.
- Pick the field to change, for example Job Title. Type in Search fields... to find it faster.
- Type the new value and click Apply: it replaces the value on every selected record. Clear empties the field on all of them instead.
Good to know
- Hold Shift and click a second row to select every row in between. The box in the header selects all loaded rows.
- When more records match than you selected, the bar shows Select all with the total: it selects every record of the current view and filters, up to 8,000.
- What Bulk edit shows depends on the field:
- Text, email, phone, links and numbers: type a value, then Apply.
- Checkbox: Set Checked or Set Unchecked.
- Select: clicking an option applies it at once. Clear Selection empties the field.
- Multi-Select: tick options, then Add to existing keeps the current values. The arrow next to it has Replace all, Remove from records and Clear all values.
- Fields you can't change in bulk: formulas, read-only fields, and a unique identifier (such as Email) on more than one record at a time.
- The other buttons of the bar, from left to right: Merge (exactly 2 records, or press M), Export selected records, Enrich selected records (only when enrichment is on for this object; it uses tokens), Create tasks from selected records, Set Owner and Delete, which asks you to confirm.
- There is no bulk email or sequence from the selection.
