How do I save a view and choose the default view?
Updated October 19, 2026
A view keeps the filters, the sort, the columns and the layout (table or kanban) of a list. Change them, then save, so you and your team find the list ready next time.
Step by step
- Open People (or any other object) and click Display at the top right of the list.
- Change what you need: Table or Kanban, Sort by, and the Columns to show. Here, untick Bio to hide that column. Filters you added count as changes too.
- Click Save to update this view for everyone, or Save as new to keep it as it was and create a new view with your changes. The Save button next to the view name does the same; its arrow has Save as new view.
- To choose the view that opens first, click the name of the current view at the top left.
- Point at the view and click its ••• button, or right-click the view.
- Click Set as default. This view now opens first for everyone in the workspace. The same menu has Rename, Duplicate and Delete.
Good to know
- A dot on Display means the view has unsaved changes. Until you save, they only exist on your screen: reloading the page or opening another view drops them.
- Save shows "View saved". Save as new opens Create View with the name filled in as "(Copy)"; click Create View to get "View created" and switch to the new view.
- Column widths are saved as soon as you resize a column, without clicking Save.
- To start from scratch, open the list of views and click Create new view at the bottom.
- The default view has no Delete option. To delete it, make another view the default first. An object always keeps at least one view.
- Deleting a view asks for confirmation, can't be undone, and removes it from everyone's favorites.
FAQ
Can I have a view only I can see?
No. Every view is visible to the whole workspace. To keep your own shortcuts, add views to your favorites: favorites are personal.
Why is Save greyed out?
You are on the built-in view an object shows when it has no saved view yet. Use Save as new instead.
