Why isn't my webhook creating records?
Updated October 19, 2026
Every webhook an active endpoint receives leaves a line in its Delivery Logs. Start there: the status and the details say what happened. Your endpoints are in Settings → Webhooks.
Step by step
- Open the endpoint from Settings → Webhooks → Manage receive endpoints.
- Check its status at the top. Paused and Setup endpoints create no records.
- Open the Delivery Logs tab.
- On a success, the Details column shows the record: click it to open it. On any line, click View log details.
- Read the Error or the Skip Reason and the AI Decision, and compare the Payload with the one your mapping was built on.
What each status means
- Success: the record was created or updated.
- Failed: the record couldn't be written. The Error says why, for example several records sharing the same unique identifier, a mapped Record ID that doesn't exist, or an owner that isn't a workspace member.
- Skipped: the AI filter decided not to create the record, or your organization had no tokens left for it.
- Rate Limited: too many webhooks arrived at once. Each endpoint accepts about 60 per minute, and a workspace about 300 per minute in total. Your tool gets an HTTP 429 answer and can send again later.
Nothing in the logs?
- Setup: the endpoint was never activated. Requests only update the test payload. Open it and click Continue setup.
- Paused: requests are refused with HTTP 503 and aren't logged. Breakcold pauses an endpoint by itself after 50 failed webhooks in a row. Fix the cause, then click Resume in the Settings tab.
- Your tool may send to an old URL, use GET instead of POST, or send something other than JSON. Breakcold refuses those requests (HTTP 404 or 400) without a log line. Check the URL on the endpoint's page.
Good to know
- There is no replay. To process a failed webhook again, send it again from your tool.
- In Manual Mapping, the fields are mapped from the test payload. If your tool sends a different shape later (other field names, a list instead of one item), the values land nowhere. Use one endpoint per kind of payload, for example one for new leads and one for deals.
- Logs are kept for 30 days. The counts at the top cover the last 7 days.
- Breakcold answers your tool before it processes the webhook, so a 202 answer doesn't mean the record was created. Only the logs tell.
