How do I link people to companies by email domain?
Updated October 19, 2026
Breakcold can link a person to their company from their email address: jane@acme.example goes with the company whose website is acme.example. It can also create that company when you don't have it yet. Both are free.
Step by step
- Open Settings → Enrichment. Under Company and General Settings, turn on Enable domain-based linking to link people to the company whose website matches their email domain.
- Turn on Auto-create companies from email domains to create the company from the email domain when it doesn't exist yet.
Good to know
- Linking needs exactly one match. A person is linked only when one company, and only one, has that domain. With two companies on the same domain, nothing is linked.
- Existing links stay. A person already linked to a company is not moved to another one.
- When it happens: when a person is created or their email changes, and when a company gets a website or a domain. A company that gets its website later is linked to the people with that email domain.
- Auto-create only works with domain-based linking on. It also skips:
- public email domains, like gmail.com;
- people already linked to a company;
- people who have a LinkedIn URL while automatic enrichment of new people is on (person enrichment finds their company instead).
- Auto-create runs when a person is created or their email changes, not on people you already have.
FAQ
A person was linked to the wrong company. What do I do?
Change the company on the person's record. Linking never replaces a company that is already there.
