How do I hire Karen, the follow-up planner?

Karen reads your synced conversations, spots the ones that went quiet with a next step pending, and creates a follow-up task with a ready-to-edit draft. She never sends anything herself.

Step by step

1. Open Employees in the sidebar and click Karen.

2. Click Hire Karen. If you can't manage billing, the button is greyed out.

3. Pick her daily capacity, Karen Base (40 conversations per UTC day) or Karen Extra Hours (80), then click Continue. Breakcold marks the one that fits today's workload as Recommended. During your Breakcold trial, Karen Base is offered for free.

4. Under When is a conversation quiet?, set how many days Karen waits after the last message before she considers a follow-up (7 by default), then click Continue.

5. Choose the time of the daily task digest (9:00 by default), then click Continue. Each owner gets it in the timezone saved in their own settings.

6. Choose Monday to Friday or Every day, then click Continue.

7. Pick the writing style of her drafts: Friendly, Professional, Concise or Your Style, learned from your conversations. Click Continue.

8. Add extra instructions for her drafts if you want (up to 500 characters), then click Continue.

9. Choose Start from now to watch only new activity, or Review history to have her catch up on the last months of conversations right away. Click Continue.

10. Choose Create tasks for all contacts or Only create tasks for ongoing deals, then click Continue.

11. The next step asks where her daily brief goes. It always arrives in your Breakcold notifications and by email. Click Continue.

12. Check the plan and price under Review Karen’s contract, then click the button at the bottom: Start 7-day trial, Start Karen for FREE during your Breakcold trial, or Hire Karen if her trial was already used.

Good to know

• The 7-day trial: Karen is free for 7 days, then hired automatically. Billing starts on day 8. Fire her before then and nothing is charged.
• During your Breakcold trial: Karen Base is free until your trial ends, then she stops and isn't hired automatically. This uses up her 7-day trial in that workspace.
• Paying right away: once the trial is used, Hire Karen charges at once, prorated to the end of your billing period.
• What she works on: People with an Owner and a one-to-one conversation linked to them. Each task goes to the person's owner, in Tasks.
