How much message history is imported when I connect an account?
Updated October 19, 2026
When you connect an account, the first step asks how many months of past messages Breakcold should import. You can change it later.
Step by step
- Open Settings, then Accounts, and start connecting an account: click Connect on a channel card such as LinkedIn, or click your email provider.
- The first step is History Import. Open the list. LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Telegram start on Don't import history; email starts on Import last 12 months.
- Pick how far back to import: Don't import history, or the last 1, 2, 3, 6, 12 or 24 months. Then go on with Next to finish connecting the account.
Good to know
- 24 months is the most you can import.
- New messages sync from the moment the account is connected, whatever you pick.
- A long history takes a while to arrive. The account's page in Settings → Accounts shows its progress under Inbox sync status.
- For Telegram, the history that arrives can be shorter than the period you picked: it's limited by what Telegram lets Breakcold read.
Change it later
Open the account from Settings → Accounts and pick a new period in Sync history depth. Only the person who connected the account sees this setting.
Changing it starts a fresh sync with the new period. Lowering it doesn't delete messages that were already imported.
